چکیده

A protein kinase activity has been found associated with purified Sendai virions. Most of the virion proteins and exogenous protamine served as substrates for this enzyme.

Fusion of Sendai virions or reconstituted Sendai virus envelopes with liposomes or erythrocyte membranes lacking virus receptors.

Incubation of intact Sendai virions or reconstituted Sendai virus envelopes with phosphatidylcholine/cholesterol liposomes at 37 degrees C results in virus-liposome fusion. Neither the liposome nor the virus content was released from the fusion product, indicating a nonleaky fusion process. Only liposomes possessing virus receptors, namely sialoglycolipids or sialoglycoproteins, became leaky up...

Tubulin: a factor necessary for the synthesis of both Sendai virus and vesicular stomatitis virus RNAs.

Tubulin acts as a positive transcription factor for in vitro RNA synthesis by two different negative-strand viruses: Sendai virus, a paramyxovirus; vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV), a rhabdovirus. A monoclonal antibody directed against beta-tubulin completely inhibited not only mRNA synthesis and RNA replication catalyzed in vitro by extracts of cells infected with either virus but also mRNA sy...

Cytoplasmic domain of Sendai virus HN protein contains a specific sequence required for its incorporation into virions.

In the assembly of paramyxoviruses, interactions between viral proteins are presumed to be specific. The focus of this study is to elucidate the protein-protein interactions during the final stage of viral assembly that result in the incorporation of the viral envelope proteins into virions. To this end, we examined the specificity of HN incorporation into progeny virions by transiently transfe...

Phosphorylation of Sendai virus phosphoprotein by cellular protein kinase C zeta.

The phosphoproteins (P) of nonsegmented negative strand RNA viruses are viral RNA polymerase subunits involved in both transcription and replication during the virus life cycle. Phosphorylation of P proteins in several negative strand RNA viruses by specific cellular kinases was found to be required for P protein function. In the present study, using bacterially expressed unphosphorylated P pro...

Transfer ribonucleic acid nucleotidyltransferase and transfer ribonucleic acid in Sendai virions.

Sendai virions contain both transfer ribonucleic acid (tRNA) nucleotidyltransferase and its substrate, tRNA missing its CCA-OH end.
